Acknowledgment of Country
Wherever you are joining us from today, you are on Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander land. On behalf of Girls Day Out and all of our presenters and participants, we would like to begin by acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of all of these lands and their Elders past and present.
Our First Nations Peoples were Australia’s first scientists, astronomers and environmentalists who learned to live in harmony with their lands. May we listen to, and learn from their 65000 years of wisdom to love and care for our land, water, atmosphere and all living things.

Keynote: Ann’s World
Join our keynote speaker, Ann Stevens, Australian Computer Society (ACS), certified IT professional and educator specialist in Extended Reality (XR) and Reality Capture. Ann has designed a creative journey that takes you through her Metaverse to share her own STEM story. Have fun exploring her unique world and this amazing technology!

Laser Measurement Engineer at Advanced Navigation

BIO: Everyday, Katherine uses lasers and light energy to create new technologies for exploring Earth. Together with her team, she uses laser light to help discover new ways to navigate across air, land, sea and even space.
Fun Facts: Katherine loves teaching girls and women about the cool things that can be built with science, technology, engineering and maths. When she’s not making compasses out of lasers, she likes playing with her three cats, named Whiskers, Melody and Crotchet.
Georgia Peace
Network Software Specialist at Telstra

BIO: Georgia has been working at Telstra since 2019 as an intern and now a graduate where she has worked in many different roles in both a software engineering and data engineering capacity. She will continue in a role combining both domains looking at network outages and ways to respond to then more efficiently.
Fun Facts: Georgia has flown on the Prime Minister's plane! Wow!!
June Shaul

BIO: June works with organisations who are embracing immersive technologies to bring people closer together and create new possibilities with virtual and mixed reality.
Fun Facts: June is a Spin fanatic and has 2 teenagers which teach her something new every day!
Alanna Koh
Project and Engagement Officer at Qld XR Hub

BIO: Ally is a community manager for Qld XR Hub members. She is the liaison/connection between members (XR developers) and industry contacts to help them develop partnerships & projects. Ally also is the coordinator for events and manages their website, social media and day-to-day running of the XR Hub to spread the good word about XR in QLD!
Fun Facts: Ally studied psychology at uni and has worked in mental health & disability. Her first adventure into community management was as a Twitch streamer, managing/co-hosting esports tournaments!
