CSIRO is Australia’s national science agency housing over 5000 staff working in all areas of science and technology. CSIRO’s Data61 is the data and digital specialist arm of Australia’s national science agency. We are home to one of the largest collections of research and development expertise in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data science in the world, and host cutting-edge facilities including the Mixed Reality Lab, Robotics Innovation Centre and AI4Cyber Enclave.
Our research expertise includes AI, robotics, cybersecurity, modelling and analytics.

Our research spans AI, Cyber, Robotics, Data, Information Technology and Quantum. We work with a range of scientists on problems that require a digital solution. Staff who work for Data61 have degrees in machine learning and AI, mathematics, statistics, computer science, IT and physics. Data61 run’s vacation student programs and dedicated PhD programs. More recently CSIRO has helped launch and drive the Next Generation Graduates program, a cohort-based, industry driven, multi-disciplinary graduate training program that aims to equip students with entrepreneurial thinking and skill set in exciting fields of AI, emerging tech and Quantum.
