UQ’s vision is: knowledge leadership for a better world🌏
The university’s core purpose is to deliver for the public good through excellence in education, research and engagement with their communities and partners: local, national and global🌈
Within UQ is the Women in Computing program (WiC) which encourages young women to pursue technology education and careers while providing a skilled and diverse pipeline for the technology sector💚
Technology is the largest growth industry in Australia and offers a large range of career opportunities, in a global market with some of the highest paying jobs available in the market 🤯
So, it is very ‘apt’ that for our next Imagineering Adventure we have combined two awesome superpowers: the UN Sustainable Development Goals x Technology… off we go adventurers!

Design an app to help solve one of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) for your challenge.
STEPS
1.Identify an app idea: choose a UN SDG that resonates with you to help bring about a better world for our species to survive. Watch this 1.24 min video here: Do you know all 17 SDGs? on Vimeo Here is the link: THE 17 GOALS | Sustainable Development (un.org) 🌈
2.Outline key features: use the scaffolding questions
What does your app allow your user to do?
Why would your user need your app?
What does your app do differently to solve the problem?
What are the crucial features of your app: what is unique, distinct and innovative about your app features to make it appealing?
What are your must-have features for ensuring a good user experience: simplicity, speed and/or good image quality (resolution) 🌈
3. Create mock-ups: a mock-up is a detailed outline of the appearance of the app. This will give a glimpse into how your app will look and operate. You will need to consider:
What is the colour scheme of your app?
What fonts will you use?
What images do you wish to have?
What is the basic layout?
Using the blank screen templates provided below, tinker and experiment until you are satisfied with your designs🌈
4. Share your designs with us. We cannot wait to see what you have imagineered 🌈 🌏🚩

Talk with your potential users. Interview your customer (mum, dad or friends) for their feedback to gather specific insights into their needs. Perhaps from customer feedback you can improve your features to give your app a better edge!
