Ashley has been named a 2021 Exceptional Young Women in Mining Finalist in the Queensland Women in Resources Awards. This award recognises her achievements in advancing the technological direction of Queensland mining industry and notes her significant contributions in attracting and retaining women in STEM.

Wanting to combine her favourite subjects of Art, Maths and Science, Ashley studied a dual degree of Bachelor of Business (International Business) and Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). During Ashley's third year studying she found her passion for combining Engineering and Technology to solve our world's challenges and create inclusive solutions for the community. As a Technology Business Analyst at BHP, Ashley is defining the Coal businesses digital future. She is leading the development of our Integrated Remote Operating Centre (IROC+) Technology Roadmap. Working across our Coal Assets to identify and understand current challenges and explore how we can leverage technology to achieve it. Working with senior leadership teams through to front line employees to frame and define leading edge technology projects across BHP, incorporating automation, artificial intelligence, machine learning and big data to deliver in excess of $250M value to the business in the past two years.

Ashley volunteers as President of Power of Engineering, leading a team of exceptional volunteers across Australia working with the Engineering industry and education sector to grow diversity in the Australian Engineering pipeline. Power of Engineering offers programs targeted at female and regional high schools students by getting them to apply their skills to understand the different types of Engineering and how Engineering is applied in their local community. During her leadership, Power of Engineering has launched events in Tasmania and Northern Territory increasing our reach to over 10,000 students across Australia. As a result, 80 per cent of those students participating said they were considering a career in Engineering.
